According to reports late on Sunday, the WGA and the AMPTP have reached a deal. Next steps in process will see the Ellen Stutzman-led WGA negotiating committee vote on “whether to recommend the agreement and send it on to the WGAW Board and WGAE Council for approval.”
However, the tentative agreement also states that us writers will not pick up our pens and return to work full time until we know that SAG-AFTRA (the actors union) also has reached a deal, though hopefully with the framework in place for the WGA and the DGA this will not take long. The agreement still needs to be sent to WGA membership to vote on which will happen Tuesday following the end of the Jewish holiday, Yom Kippur, which is today (have an easy fast for those of you who observe).
For everyone, Happy New Year everyone. L’Shana Tova. And Chag Sameach, Happy Holidays.
